Lorraine McGrath: Who is Dick Vitale’s wife?

Richard John Vitale famed as Dickie V is an American basketball sportscaster. A former head coach in the college and professional ranks, he is best known for his 41-year tenure as a college basketball broadcaster for ESPN.

In August 2021, Vitale announced that he was undergoing treatment to remove melanoma that had been discovered by doctors, and in October the same year, Vitale also revealed that his doctors had diagnosed him with lymphoma which he would seek treatment to combat.

In January 2022, ESPN announced Vitale would not commentate any more college basketball games that season.

He resides in Lakewood Ranch, Florida in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Dick and Lorraine first laid eyes on each other in the Blue Swann Inn, when Dick was still coaching the East Rutherford High School basketball team.

Lorraine McGrath and Dick Vitale tied the knot on May 22, 1971.

McGrath was born on April 13, 1945. She is 76 years old as of 2021.

Dick Vitale and McGrath have been together for over 50 years and their bond is still strong.

The couple has two daughters, Terri and Sherri, as well as five grandchildren. Both of their daughters attended the University of Notre Dame.

Dick and Lorraine have made a $1 million donation to the university to create the Dick Vitale Family Spirit Scholarship. She is also closely involved in her husband’s V Foundation, a fund for cancer research.
